Instead of respecting our values and emphasis on civil rights and liberties, the American Family Association has a different idea to what it calls the Minaret Solution.  Just in case you are wondering, the Minaret problem is a new Amendment approved by the Swiss people that would ban the building of minarets.  Well, here is their solution:

They recognize that Islam represents a fundamental threat to European culture and values, and they'd like something done about that, since they love their countries as they are, thank you very much.

The solution to this controversy over religious freedom is simple: one of ours for every one of theirs. Every time they let us build a church with a steeple topped with a cross in Saudi Arabia, or Iran, or Afghanistan, they get to build a minaret in the Western country of their choice. And to be sure we keep things fair, every time a church is destroyed in the Arab world, we shut down a mosque over here.

Right now it is a capital crime to openly worship Jesus in Saudi Arabia, and even house churches have been busted up and religious offenders either imprisoned or executed.

So, let's tell the Muslim world: we believe in religious liberty, but you don't. We believe in religious liberty, but we're not saps. Let's have a little reciprocity here. One minaret in the West for every steeple in the Muslim world. How about it?

That sounds like a great idea if you believe that our values should be those in Islamic countries.  Wow, what smart people these guys are.  We believe in religious freedom, but if you do not believe in religious freedom, we will take it away here for your people.  Hey, we believe in freedom of speech, but you don't, so we will silence every Muslim in our country.  Hey, we believe in equal protection of laws here, but you don't, so we not apply the laws equally to Muslims in our country until you change.  Heck, why not pass a constitutional amendment that requires absolute reciprocity with every country.  Their values must either mirror ours, or we will deny it to their members.  I hope no Italians plan on committing a crime in the United States - because there goes the 5th Amendment.

And, what is the rule with respects to temples and other houses of worship that are neither Christian nor Muslim?  I guess those religions don't count.
