Under Rich Tucker's Logic, America's War on Terror and In Iraq and Afghanistan Are Examples of Socialism

Rich Tucker does not say so in his recent column, but the logic is there.  In classic "conservative" style, Tucker scares his readers about liberal policies and then tells his readers that liberals are the real fear mongers.  Gee, do they even realize the idiotic things they say.

As for the socialism charge, here is is:

But is “socialism” such a wild accusation? In the last several months the House of Representatives has passed a massive cap-and-trade bill that would raise taxes in order to supposedly combat global warming. It’s passed a massive health care reform bill that could change everyone’s access to medical care in order to supposedly “bend the cost curve.” And it’s passed a “stimulus” bill and a budget that will combine to spend your children and grandchildren into the poorhouse.

Let's school "conservatives" as to the meaning of "socialism" - a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state.  When you control the means of production, you can determine what goods and services will be produced and how they will be distributed.  Can someone please explain to me how cap and trade is socialism?  A tax on carbon emission is not the control of the means of production.  The same actually goes for health care reform.  Even a government run health care company is not control of the means of production.  What exactly are "means of production"?  Physical inputs used in production, such as factories and the like.  It also includes capital.  For whatever it is worth, a public health insurance company is not a "means of production".  So, that socialism charge is based on nothing more than ignorance.

And, the best one is the whole idea that the "stimulus" package and that any governmental spending is socialism.  Well, we have spent more on the wars then we have on the stimulus package.  So, under Tucker's reasoning, that must be socialism as well.  Also, why do "conservatives" only care about deficits when it comes to social programs.  They do not seem to care about spending on wars, or paying for them.  Yeah, they may claim that social programs are forever, unlike wars - but isn't a stimulus just like a war as far as spending is concerned?

So, after scaring readers with the "socialism" meme, Tucker goes on as to how the real fear and loathing in America comes from liberals:

And it’s worth noting that the real fear and loathing in this country is on the left.

Recently, the liberal publisher of the Falls Church News-Press attempted to explain what’s driving the tea party movement. Conservatives aim to, “Go after those African-Americans (including your president), those immigrants, those gays! Don’t let them have health care! Don’t let them have equal rights! Harass them, beat them up! Yeah, that’s ‘freedom,’ man!” Nicholas Benton wrote.

It’s great when the mask slips and liberals show what they really think of their fellow citizens.

So, if you attack the Tea Baggers, that makes you hate America.  But, when the Tea Baggers lie and attack liberals on a daily basis, they love America.  When "conservatives" claim that blacks are ignorant and being duped because, they love America.  What a joke!!!  How can these people just write shit day in and day out without any intellectual coherence?  It is amazing.  Also, I love how the Tucker points to a quote from a single individual to make the claim that all liberal loathe America.

One last gripe - it goes back to the Founders.  "Conservatives" love to claim that if we return to our founding principles everything will be great.  They never actually articulate what the Founders believed.  Why would they?  They don't understand anything about American history and culture other than their delusional fantasies.  One question for these people.  The Founders created a great system (and a living Constitution) but they were not without their flaws.  There is one principle that Americans cherish above almost everything else, that did not come our Founders, "equal protection under the law".  How do "conservatives" feel about that ideal that did not come from our Founders?  We all know how they feel - they hate it.

You nailed it - that's what these wingnuts do: scare people and then pretend not to *be* the scary people.

But there's a groundswell of anger rising against the anger-mongers:
