"Conservative" Reasoning: If You Get One Black Person To Claim Democrats Are Racist, Then It Must Be True

Definitely not your great great great grandfather's Republican PartyI find it absolutely hilarious when "conservatives" who were Democrats 50 years ago, join the Republican Party because Democrats actually began to promote and to protect civil rights, and then claim the Republican heritage of ending slavery and Reconstruction while slamming modern day Democrats for what had happened in their past. The distortion of history is disgusting, but it didn't stop S.E. Cupp in her latest column.
Didn't you know, Democrats are racist, it is part of their history:
“The Democratic Party is the architect of modern-day racism.”
That’s a direct quote from Frances Rice, the (black and female) chairman of the National Black Republican Association and a former US Army Lieutenant Colonel. And despite a well-documented 150-year history of racism (Michael Scheuer calls Dems the party of the four S’s: slavery, secession, segregation and now socialism), you don’t have to re-read your high school history book to see that Ms. Rice’s statement is true.
Gee, I guess 1968 and the Southern Strategy never occurred. I guess the South going from solidly Democratic to solidly Republican never happened. Of course Cupp does not really care about the past. She was just making the point the Democrats still remain racist by engaging in acts of race-baiting and intentionally keeping blacks poor just for the votes. It is the same old tired line. Again, why do these columnists insist of bringing it up every so often? I guess to reinforce lies. Thinking people might begin to stray if you don't tell the lie again - so it needs to be reinforced.
I also love it when "conservatives" find validation in their idiotic beliefs on race when they find a black person who agrees with them. If you need one black person to agree with you to validate your beliefs - they you are pretty stupid. Hell, even better, Cupp found a black person who thinks the GOP really can't do anything on race baiting anyway so they might as well just be quiet:
I asked Rice what GOP leadership could do to kill this lame line of attack once and for all. She wasn’t optimistic. “What are their options? Issue a public statement admonishing the Democrats for their incivility? Issue a public statement condemning Democrats for denigrating black Republicans? The likely reaction by black Democrats and liberal journalists would be to trash the GOP leaders as racist.”
She’s right. The condemnation has to come from the left, from within the Democratic Party. And who better than our first black president to say to the Sharptons and Dowds and Carters and Pelosis, “Enough is enough. You’re making us all look bad.”
What a way to absolve yourself of your sins. Now you got the cover of a black woman. Hooray!!!
Oh, as for history? Republicans should remember the noble and serious pursuit in bringing the races together they attempted during Reconstruction. They passed tough civil rights laws, defeated the Klan (for the time being), offered reparations (vetoed by Johnson and the Republicans were one vote short to override the veto), protected African-Americans from violence and tried to integrate Southern Society through public education. Republicans abandoned it in 1876 because they could win elections without Southern support. Modern day Republicans and their "conservative" cohorts have abandoned this tradition.
Race,
Race Baiting,
Racial Animus
